Hifana are Japanese breakbeat/hip hop/splice-and-dice duo Keizo Fukuda
and Jun Miyata, who also dub themselves KEIZOmachine! and Juicy.
Starting out in 1998, they’ve established an innovative and creative
cult live persona in Japan, during which they cut-up beats and rhythms with real-time
samples, scratching and out-of-kilter percussion. The results can be equally messy and ingenious.
In September 2006 they headlined at the New York – Tokyo Music
Festival in Central Park in New York, and released the fantastic compilation Nampooh
Cable – which throws in hip hop, dub, breaks, and… folk muzak from Okinawa… yum!!
